Standings Configuration

  • Go to Season Settings > Standings to configure your league's point system (e.g., 2 pts for a win, 1 pt for OT loss, 0 for a regulation loss).
  • Choose which columns to display in the standings table: wins, losses, ties, OT losses, points, goal differential, and more.
  • Enable division-based standings to display separate standings tables for each division in your league.
  • Set the sort order for standings columns so teams are ranked exactly the way your league rules dictate.
  • Standings update in real time as scores are submitted, so players always see the latest rankings.

Pro tip: Add a "Games Played" column to your standings so players can quickly see if teams have played an unequal number of games.

Playoff Bracket Setup

  • Navigate to Season > Playoffs to create a new playoff bracket for your league.
  • Choose your bracket format: single elimination, double elimination, or best-of-series (best of 3, 5, or 7).
  • Set the number of teams that qualify for the playoffs — the system automatically creates the right bracket size.
  • For best-of-series formats, configure how many wins are needed to advance and the schedule pattern (e.g., 2-2-1).
  • Publish the bracket to your public league site so players and fans can follow the playoff picture.

Pro tip: Use single elimination for shorter playoff rounds and best-of-series for championship finals to give your top teams a competitive, exciting finish.

Seeding & Qualifications

  • Enable automatic seeding to have RocketHockey seed playoff teams based on final regular season standings.
  • Configure qualification rules such as minimum games played, minimum points, or top N teams per division.
  • Division winners can be automatically placed in the top seeds regardless of overall point totals.
  • Preview the projected bracket before the regular season ends based on current standings.
  • Once the regular season concludes, finalize seedings with one click or adjust them manually before publishing.

Pro tip: Show the "projected playoff picture" on your standings page during the final weeks of the season to build excitement and engagement.

Tiebreaker Rules

  • Configure tiebreaker criteria under Season Settings > Standings > Tiebreakers.
  • Drag and drop tiebreaker rules to set their priority order (e.g., head-to-head first, then goal differential, then goals for).
  • Available tiebreaker criteria include head-to-head record, goal differential, goals for, goals against, fewest penalty minutes, and more.
  • When a tiebreaker is applied, the standings page shows a tooltip explaining which rule resolved the tie.
  • For three-way ties, the system applies tiebreakers using the round-robin results among the tied teams first.

Pro tip: Publish your tiebreaker rules on your league website before the season starts so all teams understand how ties will be resolved.

Championship & Awards

  • Set up the championship round with custom formatting — best-of-series, single game, or a finals tournament.
  • Playoff stats are tracked separately so regular season and postseason performances can be compared.
  • Create awards for league MVP, top scorer, best goalie, and other categories that are displayed on your site.
  • Record championship winners in the league history so past champions are preserved season over season.
  • Share championship results and award winners automatically via email announcements to the entire league.

Pro tip: Create a "Hall of Fame" page on your league website to showcase past champions and award winners — it adds history and prestige to your league.
